Biography of the author’s mother – Mary Davis Coburn, daughter of a minister, who at 28 found herself a widow with two small children and no visible means of support. Over-sheltered and untrained, she had one talent, a good singing voice which led her into the rugged and sometimes amusing life of the theatre of the early 1900s.
